IMUBIND Total TFPI ELISA

Measures Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor (TFPI) in human plasma and cell culture supernatants. TFPI circulates in plasma as a complex with low-density and high-density lipoproteins and is found in several forms, including several truncated forms. Approximately 10% of TFPI is carried by platelets, which release TFPI once activated by thrombin. Thus, at the site of a wound, where platelets aggregate, elevated levels of TFPI are present. TFPI possesses multiple Kunitz-type domains, Kunitz Domain 1 for the TF/fVIIa complex and Kunitz Domain 2 for Factor Xa, and inhibits both Factor Xa and the TF/fVIIa complex. TFPI first binds with Factor Xa, then this complex binds to the TF/fVIIa complex. This ELISA detects both intact and truncated forms of TFPI, as well as complexes with TF and fVIIa.
